Celebration is quiet. After fasting for the holiday and thinking about the year during this day of reflection and preparing for the evening of quiet celebration friends join us and we hold each other tightly grateful for the fate of our being at the same place, meeting 14 years ago at a Yom Kippur Break Fast dinner.
Hilda remembers the meeting vividly. She was a player in the scene. She gave up her seat on Rina’s couch for Tuvia, and as everyone discreetly watched us, I was beginning to get to know Tuvia. And 14 years later we are still quietly celebrating the end of Yom Kippur together and with friends.
