Going Live: 5/30 PAD

It was chilly on Sunday morning
As I stood outside a closed Crumbs Cupcake shop
Waiting to spend real time with a Slicer,
Connected in our virtual reality
At www.twowritingteachers.wordpress.com

The streets of Ridgewood longed for more of us
But it was easier to make eye contact with each female passerby
As time moved us closer to 10.

An hour in real time
at a small table at the window.
Cupcakes to go,
Coffee to sip
As we talked, f-t-f.

Both teachers,
Living ironically,
Just one long road
We enhanced
our online foundation.

A year ago, motivated to write daily
With the Slice of Life Community,
Both of us took the challenge to heart:
First sharing our link
And then clicking around
From blog-to-blog
Reading, leaving comments.

For that month of March ’10,
And beyond, to weekly Slice of Life Tuesdays,
And another full month of March Slices,

We are virtual.
We are real time.
We are connected.

  1. Great slice today – and cupcakes to go sounds wonderful!

  2. Love that you both wrote about the experience. Final stanza pulls it all together.

  3. Christy

I got goosebumps reading your post today! What an awesome experience. I love the way you weaved the tech-talk into your slice and contrasted it with genuine cut to the bone language. Lovin’ it!

  4. That was fun! Although traces of the migraine I’d had that morning are clearly visible on my face!

  5. And this is the way it should be…up close and personal whenever possible but grateful for blogs when it is not possible. Glad you found each other.

  6. How lucky you are that you live close enough to get together! I loved reading this post–and especially the last stanza.

  7. Elizabeth G.

I just love how you were able to connect in person after connecting online. What a special moment!

  8. I am so mad at myself for forgetting about the SOL challenge this year. Next year for sure.

    • Bummer Joel. It would have been great to have you along for the slicing ride. Remember, next March. Put it on your calendar.

  9. How fun that would be to meet a “slicer” face to face! Over cupcakes no less! Too bad no one ever comes to Oklahoma…do you?
