I VOTED FOR BARACK OBAMA!: Slice of Life Tuesday

dsc_0121

As I opened my door this morning on my way to vote, this is what I found-a reminder.

I didn’t need it of course, but it was reassuring to see what my political party is doing to get out the vote.  Now here in Nyack, it’s probably not as necessary as it is in those swing states, but if Santas are here, I’m sure they are leaving these gifts in Floriday, Ohio, PA and elsewhere.

Yesterday, on the phones, I called voters in Florida and got to speak with a few real people.  Many had already voted. Many are plagued by voices like mine, calling from outside the state.  I was almost as frustrated as they were.  Some did vote for McCain, but the Obamas were opened and laughing with me at the focus of our efforts in Florida.

It felt good today to take my walk down the hill to my polling place.  It felt good to stand behind a family of black women.  We were all there to vote in the first black man running for president, It’s a big moment for me, bigger for them. We grinned together.

Last night as I watched Charlie Rose and his group talk about our future, I could see it with them.  I can taste this moment, taste it.

I want this day to speed to 7PM.

GO BARACK!  I have a room reserved for your inauguration.

Bonnie, I almost feel more nervous for you than I do for anyone else in this election. I know how much it means to you! 🙂 It makes me feel good to see so many people standing in line and taking their voting responsibilities seriously.

  4. Thanks for the support Lisa

  5. Bonnie … WE DID IT!!!! I almost can’t believe it’s real. I don’t want to go to bed for fear I’ll wake up and find out it was all a dream or something crazy. This is just too amazing, too wonderful!!

  7. I so wanted to stay up late and watch the results, but I have some sort of lingering flu and I went to bed early (the earliest ever) and woke up several times wondering, Who won? I finally scrambled down in the early morning and found the results that I knew would happen.
    Thanks for sharing, Bonnie.

  8. It was long and hard Kevin. I don’t think I’ve been really breathing until today. I am so looking forward to our future together as a country in a world without American arrogance.
I am glad that W and Sarah Palin will be packing up and returning to where they came from.
